February's Vernissage
Friday February 10th, 2011 - from 7:00 - 9:00 pm
PLEASE COME AND CELEBRATE WITH US AS WE FEATURE:
"The Best of OMMA"
From February 5 through March 2 Brush Strokes Gallery in Carleton Place will host the first juried exhibition of Ottawa Mixed Media Artists’ tenth anniversary year. The title of the show is “Draw Me In” and each of the entries must include some form of drawing or expressive line work. Many of OMMA’s members often work in non-representational format so the show promises to offer works that may not reflect traditional drawing techniques or representational subject matter. Some artists, however, may wish to incorporate such drawings within their mixed media pieces. Indeed, visitors might be surprised by the range of “drawing” techniques that these “artists with attitude” will bring to the challenge.
Expressive marks will range from broad, bold strokes made by brush or other tools to fine, intimate lines created by pencil, pen or fine-tipped brush. Needless to say, all marks will be very personal to each artist, much like a signature, and will definitely reveal “the hand of the artist” to the viewer. This juried show promises to be another outstanding mixed media exhibition – one not be missed.
Brush Strokes Gallery is located at 129 Bridge Street in Carleton Place. Gallery hours are Mon-Fri 10 am – 7pm, Saturday 10 am – 4 pm and Sunday from 12:30 – 4 pm. For information contact the Gallery at 613-253-8088 or visit either www.brushstrokesart.ca or www.omma.co.
